What's on around Milwaukee in November 2026
November 2026 · Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Out on Layton Boulevard, the Show Dome closes on November 9 so crews can pull out the mums and bring in the holiday display. It opens again on the 21st. On the weekend of the 20th, the 83rd Holiday Folk Fair fills the Exposition Center at State Fair Park, and up in Cedarburg the luminaries come out along Washington Avenue on Friday evenings.
November around Milwaukee turns on four dates: the election on the 3rd, Trainfest on the 7th and 8th, the Holiday Folk Fair from the 20th to the 22nd, and the West Bend Christmas Parade on the 29th.
I'm Jeff Moran, NMLS #483943, a mortgage broker licensed in Wisconsin through C2 Financial Corporation, and I have been in the mortgage business since 1996. I work out of Bluffton, South Carolina, and I have not been to any of these myself. Every date below comes from the organizer, the venue, the city or the county that runs it, as each one has published it for 2026. Anything I could only find on a previous year's listing was left out of the dated list, and the ones I left out are named near the bottom. I checked all of it on October 25, 2026. If you are looking at homes anywhere from Bay View up to Port Washington this fall, the Milwaukee area buyer's guide covers the four counties here and the towns inside them.
Election day is Tuesday, November 3
Polls are open from seven in the morning to eight at night. The City of Milwaukee ran in-person early voting from October 20 through November 1 at eleven sites, and a city resident could use any of them. The city's early voting page has the hours for each one. Registering at your own polling place on election day is still allowed with proof of residence, and you will need an acceptable photo ID to get a ballot.
Three amendments to the Wisconsin Constitution are on the statewide ballot. Wisconsin Watch's guide to the three questions describes one that would limit the governor's partial veto, one on religious gatherings during a health emergency, and one on diversity programs in government and public education. Each one passes on a simple majority of the votes cast on that question. Governor, attorney general and secretary of state are on the same ballot.
Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service's list of key dates has absentee drop boxes at Milwaukee Public Library branches and the Zeidler Municipal Building open until six in the evening on the 3rd. The city counts its absentee ballots in one room instead of at each polling place, and for this election that room is at the Italian Community Center on East Chicago Street. It takes ballots until eight.
Trainfest fills the Baird Center on the 7th and 8th
The National Model Railroad Association's event page runs Trainfest from nine in the morning to four in the afternoon on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, at the Baird Center on West Wisconsin Avenue. The association took over as the show's producer and counts more than 250 booths across more than 500 tables. The Baird Center's own calendar carries the same two days.
The Domes trade the mums for the holiday show on November 21
The Milwaukee Domes Alliance's calendar runs the fall floral show, Treasure of the MUMmies, through Sunday, November 8. The Show Dome then closes from November 9 through the 20th while the holiday display goes in, and the Holiday Show opens on November 21 and runs to January 3. The Desert and Tropical domes stay open the whole time. Hours are nine to five Monday through Friday and nine to four on weekends and holidays, and the one day in November the Domes are closed is Thanksgiving Day. This year's holiday theme had not been posted when I checked.
Four programs at the Bradley Symphony Center
The Milwaukee Symphony's season listing has four programs downtown this month. Dolly Parton's Threads: My Songs in Symphony runs Friday the 6th through Sunday the 8th, with Ryan Tani conducting. Royal Fireworks follows on Saturday the 14th at 7:30 in the evening and Sunday the 15th at 2:30 in the afternoon, with Matthew Halls conducting and Katherine Young Steele on oboe d'amore.
Joyce Yang plays Gershwin's Concerto in F on Friday the 20th at 11:15 in the morning and Saturday the 21st at 7:30 in the evening, on a program with Brahms' Second Symphony and Iván López Reynoso conducting. The orchestra closes the month with Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas in concert, Friday the 27th through Sunday the 29th.
The downtown lights come on Thursday, November 19
Milwaukee Downtown opens the Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival with the Kickoff Extravaganza at Pere Marquette Park on Thursday, November 19 at 6:30 in the evening. Its holiday schedule starts the entertainment an hour before that, at 5:30. The festival itself runs from that night through January 1. The Jingle Bus is part of the season most years, and the 2026 schedule for it was not posted when I checked, so please look at the festival's own page before you plan an evening around it.
The 83rd Holiday Folk Fair, November 20 to 22
The Holiday Folk Fair's admission page puts the 83rd fair in the Exposition Center at Wisconsin State Fair Park on West Greenfield Avenue in West Allis. Friday, November 20 runs from two in the afternoon to nine at night, Saturday the 21st from ten to nine, and Sunday the 22nd from ten to six. The International Institute of Wisconsin runs it.
The State Fair Park event page carries the same three days and charges for parking, which you can buy ahead online. One page on the fair's own site still shows a November 18 through 20 run, and that belongs to an earlier year.
Theater at the Marcus Center over Thanksgiving week
Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26. First Stage plays Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas in the Todd Wehr Theater from Saturday, November 21 through December 27, and its production page alternates a Red cast and a Green cast. The Broadway tour of The Sound of Music comes into Uihlein Hall from Tuesday, November 24 through Sunday, November 29, and the Marcus Center's own listing shows no performance on Thanksgiving itself.
Country Christmas in Pewaukee opens with seven walking nights
The Ingleside Hotel's event page gives Country Christmas seven walking nights: November 13 through 15, November 20 through 22, and the 25th, from five to nine in the evening, with the last ticket sold at eight. Dogs are welcome on the walking trail, and strollers and wagons are fine. Bikes and Lights nights follow on the 23rd and 24th, and the drive-through opens on November 27 and runs to January 2, according to the Country Christmas site.
West Bend lights its tree on the 5th and parades on the 29th
West Bend lights its downtown tree in Old Settlers Park on Thursday, November 5, and Visit West Bend's calendar gives the time as 5:30 to seven in the evening. Washington County Fair Park's holiday craft fair takes the Saturday before Thanksgiving, November 21, from nine in the morning to three in the afternoon.
The Christkindl Markt then takes Thanksgiving weekend downtown, free to get into. The West Bend Area Chamber's listing has it open Friday the 27th from five to eight, Saturday the 28th from noon to 9:30, and Sunday the 29th from noon to five. The Christmas parade steps off at five that Sunday evening, and its own site calls it the oldest continuous Christmas parade in Wisconsin and gives this year's theme as Santa's Helpers. Postal workers collect letters to Santa along the route, and the organizers post a weather cancellation to the parade's Facebook page.
The German Christmas Market in Oconomowoc, November 25 to 29
Travel Wisconsin's listing puts the market in Village Green Park on East Wisconsin Avenue for four days. Wednesday, November 25 is the entertainment tent only. Friday the 27th and Saturday the 28th run from ten in the morning to ten at night, and Sunday the 29th from ten to four. Santa keeps shorter hours, ten to five on the Friday and Saturday and ten to three on the Sunday. The market's own site still showed last year's November 26 through 30 run when I checked, so I would call before driving out.
Two late Saturdays at the Fondy Farmers Market
Fondy Food Center's market page keeps the Fondy Farmers Market open for two late-season Saturdays, November 7 and November 14, from nine to noon. One local guide lists those same two Saturdays as nine to two, so please check the market's page before you go. Fondy Food Center also runs the Milwaukee Winter Farmers Market at The Table on West Capitol Drive through the cold months, and the opening date for this season had not been posted when I checked.
The outdoor Saturday markets in Bay View, Wauwatosa and Shorewood finished in October. The listings I could reach disagree on their final days, so I left those dates out rather than print one I could not stand behind.
Hockey at the Panther Arena on November 14
The Admirals' own 2026-27 television schedule puts the Chicago Wolves at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena at six in the evening on Saturday, November 14. The team has other home dates this month, and the listings I could reach disagree on their start times, so those are off the list above.
The road work to plan around this month
WisDOT moved eastbound traffic onto new concrete between Hawley Road and General Mitchell Boulevard in the week of October 12, which freed up the median for crews to build the future inside lanes. The I-94 East-West construction page keeps the current list of what is closed. The eastbound exit to General Mitchell Boulevard and the General Mitchell Boulevard entrance to westbound I-94 are closed into spring 2027.
The 27th Street bridge over I-94 closed in February and stays closed through late 2026. The 16th Street viaduct is a separate city project: it closed in December 2025, the stretch south of Canal Street reopened in August, and the Department of Public Works has said the rest of the work runs into December. WisDOT also lists a long-term closure of the WIS 175 southbound ramp to eastbound I-94 beginning late this year. Early work on the East Leg is expected to run into 2028, and WisDOT says every one of those dates depends on the weather.
The Port Washington data center keeps hiring
The Daily Reporter's October 1 piece on construction employment puts more than 4,000 union construction jobs at peak on the Vantage campus in Port Washington, quoting an official at Building Advantage. Vantage has said that between 2,800 and 3,000 workers are on the site now.
Construction started in December 2025, and WPR reported the campus as a hub for the OpenAI and Oracle program called Stargate. The first building is targeted for 2028, and the company expects about 330 of its own staff on site afterward, with tenants adding about 700 more. That is a three-year construction payroll in Ozaukee County. If you are shopping in Port Washington or Grafton, please give me a call and I can tell you what a payment there looks like before you spend a Saturday looking at homes.
The lottery and gaming credit, and two other Wisconsin rules
The Department of Revenue sets the maximum lottery and gaming credit value each November, and the credit comes off the first installment of the December property tax bill. It reaches only the home you live in, and only if you are living in it on January 1 of the year the tax is charged. One home per owner. How the lottery and gaming credit follows a Wisconsin purchase walks through the line to look for on that December bill and the two deadlines for claiming it after the fact.
If you are closing this month, two other Wisconsin rules come up. The electronic real estate transfer return is the filing your deed needs before the county will record it. The seller pays for your owner's title policy here under the standard WB-11 offer, and your Loan Estimate can still show it, so that is a good question to ask at the closing table.
The dates I could not confirm for this year
Nine items came up in the research and none of them has a 2026 date I could trace to the organizer, so none of them is in the list above. The Wisconsin Veterans Day Parade moved to downtown Wauwatosa in 2025 and is run by the Wisconsin Veterans Community Foundation; one aggregator shows Saturday, November 7, and the foundation has not posted it. The Christkindlmarket at Fiserv Forum Plaza, the City of Milwaukee tree lighting and the Jingle Bus are in the same position. So are the Delafield and Oconomowoc tree lightings, the opening Saturday of the Milwaukee Winter Farmers Market and a craft fair at Arrowhead High School in Hartland.
A Cedarburg listing carries a tree lighting on "Monday, November 31," a date that does not exist. A Cedarburg Christmas does have the luminaries and the free trolley along Washington Avenue on Friday evenings from November 20 through December 18, which in November falls on the 20th and the 27th.
Common questions
What is happening around Milwaukee at Thanksgiving 2026?
Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26. The German Christmas Market in Oconomowoc opens its entertainment tent on Wednesday the 25th and runs Friday through Sunday. West Bend holds its Christkindl Markt Friday through Sunday and its Christmas parade at five on Sunday the 29th. The Milwaukee Symphony plays the Grinch in concert Friday through Sunday, The Sound of Music is at the Marcus Center all weekend, and the Country Christmas drive-through in Pewaukee opens on the 27th.
When does the Holiday Folk Fair run in 2026?
Friday, November 20 through Sunday, November 22, at the Exposition Center at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis. It is the 83rd fair. Friday opens at two in the afternoon, Saturday and Sunday at ten in the morning. One page on the fair's own site still shows November 18 through 20, which belongs to an earlier year.
Is the Mitchell Park Domes holiday show open in November?
It opens Saturday, November 21 and runs to January 3. The Show Dome is closed from November 9 through the 20th while the display goes in, and the Desert and Tropical domes stay open through all of it. The fall show, Treasure of the MUMmies, runs through November 8.
Are the farmers markets still open in November around Milwaukee?
The Fondy Farmers Market is, for two late-season Saturdays on November 7 and 14. The outdoor markets in Bay View, Wauwatosa and Shorewood finished in October. Fondy Food Center's winter market at The Table on West Capitol Drive runs through the cold months, and this season's opening Saturday had not been posted when I checked.
Which of these events are outside the City of Milwaukee?
Most of them. The Holiday Folk Fair is in West Allis, Country Christmas is in Pewaukee, the German Christmas Market is in Oconomowoc, the parade and the Christkindl Markt are in West Bend, and the luminaries are in Cedarburg. The municipality a home is in changes its tax bill, and so does the county. The Milwaukee area buyer's guide goes through that county by county.
I am moving to the Milwaukee area this winter. Where should I start?
You'll want to start with the municipality and the county, because those two set your tax bill, and a mailing address will not settle either one. The Wisconsin page covers the statewide rules, including the lottery and gaming credit and who pays for the owner's title policy. Then please give me a call and tell me which towns you are looking in, and I can tell you what a payment there looks like.
